What is the difference between "PMMA acrylic Board" and "PC Board"?

Both are transparent plastics. In the case of the same thickness and the same raw material particles, the light transmittance of PMMA is 2-3% higher than that of PC, which is close to 90%, which is not easy to distinguish with the naked eye. But the difference in other physical properties between the two is quite big, because after all, they are two kinds of materials.

1. Heat resistance, temperature resistance and weather resistance

PMMA is easy to soften when it reaches 70 degrees, while PC is 120 degrees, so PC is more temperature-resistant and heat-resistant, and the working temperature is more widely used.

2. Impact resistance, smash resistance and strength index

With the same thickness, the impact strength of PC is 30-50 times that of PMMA. Starting from 6mm, PC thick boards are bulletproof materials, and ordinary adults with 3mm PC boards can't break it with a hammer.

3. Flame-resistant and fire-resistant

PC is a flame-retardant material, which belongs to Class B flame-retardant (UL94-V2 internationally), one of the self-extinguishing plastics, which is not easy to burn, while PMMA is not flame-retardant.

4. Environmental protection

PC is an environmentally friendly plastic, and some of the properties of PMMA cannot be reached. Therefore, some foreign fields have eliminated the application of PMMA and will gradually become popular in China. Although my country is a large PMMA country, few high value-added PMMA sheets are produced, and they all rely on imports.
