SABIC invests $170 million in Ultem™ PEI resin manufacturing plant in Singapore

SABIC, a globally diversified chemical company, has announced the opening of its US$170 million (approximately S$220 million) ULTEM™ resins manufacturing plant in Singapore. This new plant is the first advanced specialty chemicals manufacturing facility SABIC has opened in the region to produce high-performance thermoplastic ULTEM resins.

This strategic move is designed to support SABIC's goal of increasing its global ULTEM specialty resins production capacity by more than 50 percent, in response to the growing demand for high-tech and manufacturing industries in the Asia Pacific region, including Japan and China.

The new plant was inaugurated by Ms. Liu Yanling, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry (MITI) and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MEXT), Mr. Khalid Hashim Al-Dabbagh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SABIC, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Faaji, Chief Executive Officer of SABIC, and Mr. Omar Al-Harthi, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Singapore. inaugurated the new plant.

Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), this new facility in Singapore reinforces SABIC's commitment to the local supply of high performance materials to meet complex and demanding supply chain needs.

Ms. Lau Yin Ling, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry (MITI) and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCY), said, “The inauguration of SABIC's new facility underscores Singapore's role as a gateway to Asia and a leading hub for the chemical industry.”

Singapore's extensive network of trade agreements also provides us with excellent access to the region's markets.”
