1. What is high temperature nylon PA9T?


It is poly(terephthaloyl nonylenediamine). That is PA9T, or Nylon-9T or Polyamide-9T. The factory where I was born, Kuraray, gave me the "stage name" Genestar.

All born in the family of high-temperature nylon, including PA46, PA4T, PA6T, PA6I, MXD6, PA10T and PA12T.


It was in Japan, a big corporation called Kuraray, founded a long time ago, in 1926. It is a Tokyo-listed company, and it is said to be one of the world's leading materials giants and a famous general chemical industrial group in Japan. Kuraray was the first in the world to establish an industrial production method for my father (nonylenediamine) through a reductive amination reaction, and then established the related manufacturing technology.

Advantages of PA9T

PA9T's water absorption is only 0.17%, which is the lowest among all the PA family, and the low water absorption also gives PA9T a very good stability. The overall performance is undoubtedly one of the better of the traditional heat-resistant nylons, and as production scales continue to expand, the cost will be close to that of ordinary PA.

My body is relatively strong, melting point at 306 ℃, can be resistant to high temperatures; I have a high glass transition temperature (125 ℃) and high crystallinity, thus giving me good toughness in high temperature environments; however, I am rigid and flexible, and not as rigid as my cousin PA6T, must be copolymerized to be processed;

At the same time, I have other PA materials can not be compared with the chemical resistance, second only to PPS. 10 times the barrier to fuel Pa66 and PA12, close to the level of ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer);

Disadvantages of PA9T

Poor long-term heat resistance. Also poor toughness.

3. Application of PA9T

PA9T is mainly used in the electrical and electronic industry, automotive industry and fiber industry.

(1) Electrical and electronic industry
This is the key area for market development. As a substrate for SMT (Surface Mount Technology), practical applications have shown that PA9T is a resin with excellent performance and no drawbacks in this field.

In addition, as the ROHS and WEEE directives of the European Union become more and more stringent, the demand for lead-free solder will increase in the future. In order to achieve lead-free solder, the melting point of solder may have to be increased by 15°C, so the heat resistance of PPS and LCP (type) will be insufficient, and the excellent heat resistance of PA9T may meet the requirements of lead-free solder.

(2) LED industry
High-temperature, resin white, other high-temperature nylon can not be, this piece is currently mainly used PA9T, PA10T (Jinfa)

(3)Automobile industry
The resinization of a full set of parts such as the fuel system, suction system, and cooling system around the engine requires a high-performance Synthetic Resin. The excellent characteristics of PA9T, such as heat resistance, chemical resistance, and slidability, make it a basic material for the automobile industry. Especially for bearing support, transmission gears. Partially replaces POM, PPS, etc.

(4) Fiber industry
I have good heat resistance, firmness and dyeing is also good, after fiber, it is expected to be used as clothing and industrial fiber materials. At the same time, I have good teeth, not afraid of acid and alkali.
