Techtron® HPV internally lubricated PPS shapes offer superior wear resistance, outstanding chemical and hydrolysis resistance, excellent dimensional stability, great electrical insulating and dielectric properties, a low coefficient of friction, and inherently low flammability. As a glass fiber-reinforced grade, Techtron® HPV PPS closes the gap in performance and price, between standard thermoplastics and advanced engineering plastics. For this reason, this versatile grade of Polyphenylene Sulfide is great for wear components such as bushings and bearings, CIP wash down parts, and pump, valve, and compressor applications throughout the aerospace, food processing, and oil and gas industries.


Techtron® PPS (polyphenylene sulfide)


Quadrant EPP Techtron HPV PPS description:


◆ Relative density 1.362, with outstanding thermal stability.

◆ Good heat and flame resistance, high HDT, high mechanical strength at high temperature.

◆ Fast crystallization, crystallinity up to 60~65%.

◆ Good dimensional stability, good electrical properties, low melt viscosity, good moldability.

◆ Good chemical resistance, good drug resistance (except concentrated nitric acid), no dissolving agent can dissolve PPS below 200 degree Celsius.

◆ Impact resistance, weather resistance, toughness and friction abrasion characteristics are poor.

◆ There will be burrs, mechanical properties are affected by mold temperature.

◆ Density 1.34~1.40g/cc, deformation temperature 110~265 degree Celsius, molding shrinkage 0.4~1.4%.

◆ Burning point 288 degree Celsius, glass transfer point 90 degree Celsius.


Quadrant EPP Techtron HPV PPS application:


● Electronics: high-voltage components, housings, sockets, terminals on TV sets and computers, starting coils and blades of electric motors, brush holders and rotor insulating parts, contact switches, relays, electric irons, hair dryers, lamp heads, heaters, F-grade films, etc.

● Automotive industry: Used in exhaust recirculation valves and water pump impellers, as well as carburetors, exhaust devices, exhaust regulating valves, light reflectors, bearings, and sensing parts.

● Mechanical industry: used as bearings, pumps, valves, pistons, precision gears, as well as photocopiers, cameras, computer parts, catheters, sprayers, injector nozzles, instrumentation parts, etc.

● Chemical industry: used to make acid and alkali resistant valve pipes, pipe fittings, valves, gaskets and corrosion resistant parts such as submersible pumps or impellers


Techtron ® PPS Key Properties & Grades

Techtron PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) products offer the broadest resistance to chemicals of any advanced engineering plastic. They have no known solvents below 392°F (200°C) and offer inertness to steam, strong bases, fuels and acids. Minimal moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, combined with Quadrant`s proprietary stress relieving processes, make these PPS products ideally suited for precise tolerance machined components. In addition, PPS products exhibit excellent electrical characteristics and are inherently flame retardant.

Techtron PPS Extruded Virgin - offers the broadest resistance to chemicals of any advanced engineering plastic. They have no known solvents below 392°F (200°C) and are inert to steam, strong bases, fuels and acids. Minimal moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, combined with stress-relieving manufacturing, make PPS ideally suited for precise tolerance machined components. As an unfilled material, Techtron® is easily machined to close tolerances. It is ideal for structural applications in corrosive environments or as a lower-temperature replacement for PEEK. Standard Techtron® PPS is off-white in color.


Techtron HPV PPS Extruded Bearing Grade - exhibits excellent wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction. It overcomes the disadvantages of virgin PPS caused by a high coefficient of friction, and of glass fiber reinforced PPS which can cause premature wear of the counter face in moving-part applications.


Techtron PSBG PPS Compression Molded Bearing Grade - is internally lubricated and carbon fiber reinforced compression molded PPS offering a low coefficient of thermal expansion and uncompromised chemical resistance. It is well suited for and wear applications or when an electrically conductive material is required.


Techtron PSGF PPS Compression Molded 40% Glass Filled - is a compression molded analogue to Ryton R4 resin. It offers better dimensional stability and thermal performance than Techtron® PPS and maintains its strength to above 425°F (220°C).
