PPS plastic and PEEK plastic: heat resistance comparison and mechanical properties comparison, who is better?
For the two polymer materials, PPS and PEEK, there are some obvious differences between them. First, in terms of melting point, PPS has a melting point of 280°C, while PEEK has a melting point of 340°C. This means that PEEK has superior heat resistance in high temperature environments.
Secondly, in terms of tensile strength, PPS with 40% glass fiber added has a tensile strength of 105Mpa, while PEEK in the same situation shows a tensile strength of 115Mpa. This shows that PEEK is slightly better at withstanding tensile forces.
Further, comparing the Rockwell hardness, PPS has a hardness of 100 while PEEK has a hardness of 105, which means that PEEK is slightly higher in terms of hardness.
Lastly, in terms of long-term service temperature, PPS has a service temperature of 220°C or less, while PEEK has a service temperature of 250°C or less. This indicates that PEEK has superior heat resistance in high temperature environments.
Therefore, although both PPS and PEEK are high-performance engineering plastics, they have their own performance characteristics. In some cases, such as in friction situations or when the temperature is not high, PPS can be used instead of PEEK, thus reducing costs. However, in cases where only PEEK can be used, PPS is difficult to completely replace, especially in high-temperature environments.
