PEEK catheter production, applications and development in the medical field
PEEK medical catheters are basic medical device products that are widely used in diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, emergency care, drainage, perfusion, gas delivery, blood delivery, and rehabilitation. With the development of modern technology and the increasing average life expectancy of the world's population and the trend of aging, medical catheters in modern medical treatment and home care applications will continue to expand the scope and importance of the industry's huge potential for future development.
PEEK medical catheter production requirements for the environment, equipment and raw materials must comply with ISO13485 standards, strict sterilization and disinfection, but also a lot of post-processing of the catheter such as ring printing, end sealing, expansion, punching, fixed bending molding.
PEEK medical catheter features and applications
(1) The lower, bone-approximating modulus of elasticity (around 3.8 GPa for PEEK, 3.2-7.8 GPa for cancellous bone, 17-20 GPa for cortical bone, and 110 GPa for titanium alloy TC4) prevents stress masking effects and allows the surrounding bone to retain its original strength.
(2) It is X-ray permeable and does not show up on CT and MRI scans, making it easier to assess bone growth and the healing process; and in some cases when the implant needs to be visible, it can be modified to do so. And radiation resistance, PEEK has a very stable chemical structure, in high doses of ionizing radiation, PEEK parts can also work properly.
(3) Excellent sterilization properties, even after long-term exposure to hot steam, ethylene oxide and gamma radiation, it can still maintain its original properties without change. Harsh temperature to 250 ℃ can be used for a long time, the instantaneous use of the temperature can reach 300 ℃.
(4) Better biocompatibility.
(5) Mechanical properties can be adjusted, and different additives can be added, including carbon fiber, barium sulfate, and glass fiber to meet different specific application needs.
(6) Greater design freedom, which can be easily machined from semi-finished blanks or produced by injection molding, and the molding process of PEEK can be injection molding, extrusion, and 3D printing technology.
