What is Rulon Grade J?
Rulon ® J is dull gold in color and provides one of the lowest coefficient of friction of all Rulons, and provides good wear and abrasion resistance. Because this grade is "all plastic", it can be run on non-ferrous and non-metallic mating surfaces such as 316 Stainless, brass, and other plastics.

What is the difference between Rulon J and LR?
RULON® J Offers the lowest coefficient of friction and highest life for stainless steel and other soft mating surfaces down to Rb25 hardness. Good chemical resistance. RULON® LR Gives the best chemical resistance for mild-to-hardened steel shafting and counterfaces. Low deformation and self-lubricating.
What is the difference between PTFE and Rulon?
Rulon A has a 1000 fold increase in wear resistance as compared to PTFE. However, it machines much like PTFE. It can also be moulded, extruded, skived, stamped, and hot and cold formed. Below is a table of properties pertaining to Rulon AR, but note that the other types of Rulon have similar properties.
What is equivalent to Rulon J?
Rulon® W2 is a good alternative to Rulon J when superior chemical resistance is needed.
Is Rulon a PTFE?
Rulon® is the trade name for a family of proprietary PTFE fluoropolymer compounds and other inert ingredients. This family of materials offers the combination of high compressive strengths, low coefficient of friction, and excellent abrasion and corrosion resistance while running without lubrication.
