Basic Properties of PEEK Materials
 
PEEK is a semi-crystalline, thermoplastic aromatic polymer with an impressive array of properties. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK for short) is a new type of thermoplastic material made from 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone and hydroquinone with diphenyl sulfone as solvent, catalyzed by alkali metal carbonate (sodium carbonate or potassium carbonate), after the condensation reaction;
 
as a representative of the polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family, it is at the top of the polymer performance pyramid, with the “king of resins”. As a representative of the PAEK family, it is located at the top of the polymer performance pyramid, and has the reputation of “King of Resins”. It has excellent mechanical properties, stable physical and chemical properties, and lightweight characteristics, and also has excellent biosafety, and is an ideal replacement for the metal material of the new high-performance polymers.

First of all, it has a very high temperature resistance, its glass transition temperature is as high as 143 ℃, the melting point of 334 ℃ or so, can be used in 250 ℃ for a long time, the short-term use of the temperature can even reach more than 300 ℃. PEEK shows high strength, high modulus characteristics. Its tensile strength can reach more than 100MPa, bending strength and modulus is also quite excellent.
 
At the same time, it also has good toughness and impact resistance, this flexible and rigid characteristics of PEEK materials are not easy to fracture when subjected to complex stress, to meet a variety of harsh working conditions under the use of the requirements of the PEEK to most of the chemical reagents have excellent resistance, including organic solvents, acids and alkalis, etc. Whether in highly corrosive chemical environments, PEEK can be used in a wide range of applications.

Main classifications of PEEK (by properties and processing methods)
 
1.High temperature PEEK
 
This is the most common type of PEEK and has excellent thermal stability, maintaining good mechanical properties and chemical stability at high temperatures. High-temperature PEEK is commonly used in the manufacture of high-temperature resistant parts such as engine components, nozzles, valves and seals.
 
2.Carbon fiber reinforced PEEK
 
The mechanical properties and stiffness of PEEK are enhanced by adding carbon fibers to it. This reinforced PEEK has higher strength, stiffness and wear resistance and is used in a wide range of aerospace and motorsports applications, such as aircraft components, body structures and racing car parts.
 
3.Conductive PEEK
 
The conductive properties of PEEK are imparted by the addition of conductive fillers such as nanotubes or metal powders. This electrically conductive PEEK is used in electrostatic protection, electromagnetic shielding and sensor applications.
 
4.Medical Grade PEEK
 
Specially treated and purified to meet the requirements of medical devices. Medical grade PEEK is biocompatible, corrosion resistant, and antimicrobial, and is commonly used in the manufacture of implantable medical devices, surgical instruments, and dental products.
 
5.Film grade PEEK
 
Ultra-thin PEEK films prepared by a special process, typically used in microelectronics and optics. Thin-film PEEK is characterized by high-temperature stability, insulating properties and mechanical strength, and is suitable for the manufacture of electronic displays, solar cells and optical films.

Wide range of applications for PEEK materials
