What are the main factors in the deformation of machined POM processing materials?
Deformation is mainly caused by several factors:
1. Clamping deformation, POM material is not like steel, pom processing when clamping will produce deformation, rough machining after loosening the product and return to the original state.
2. Thermal deformation, POM processing will produce a lot of heat, and POM material is very sensitive to heat, thus producing deformation.
3. Elastic deformation, POM material toughness is very good, cutting, the product will produce elastic deformation, the tool will leave the product will restore a certain amount of deformation.
The following measures can be taken to minimize deformation of CNC-machined POM (paraformaldehyde) materials:
Control the machining temperature. Ensure that the machining temperature is moderate and avoid too high or too low to prevent material decomposition or deformation.
Increase cooling time. During processing, ensure that the material has enough time to cool and stabilize to reduce deformation and warping.
Reasonable selection of molds. Select the appropriate mold material and structure according to the nature of POM and processing requirements to ensure that the mold has sufficient rigidity and precision.
Control injection speed and pressure. During the injection molding process, avoid premature cooling or gas entrapment of the material in the mold to prevent deformation.
Handle the blanks before rough machining. Make the blanks standard and process them in several times to reduce the amount of deformation. After rough machining, the product can be processed by boiling to make it absorb water and expand, and then finish machining to reduce the deformation.
Use suitable knives. Use white steel cutter (high speed steel cutter) for machining because it generates relatively less heat when cutting.
Control the amount of cutting. Leave a little margin at the end of finishing and use a small cutter light to minimize deformation.
Select the appropriate machining equipment and process. Use high-precision CNC machines for machining, and adopt appropriate cooling methods and machining parameters, such as lowering the feed rate, reducing the depth of cut, etc., in order to avoid excessive heating and deformation.
Preheat the POM material. Before machining, put the POM material into the preheating furnace and heat it to a stable temperature to reduce thermal deformation.
Control machining temperature and humidity. Pay attention to control the processing temperature and humidity, avoid processing in high temperature and high humidity environment to avoid deformation of the material due to moisture or excessive heating.
Add modifiers. Improve the performance of POM materials by adding modifiers to improve its dimensional stability and heat resistance.
