What is anodized aluminum?

Anodizing is a common finishing method for select non-ferrous materials. This includes aluminum, titanium and magnesium. It involves an electrochemical process that transforms the outer surface of a metal part into a durable and highly corrosion and scratch resistant layer. This process is also highly decorative. When applied, it provides a shiny finish in a variety of colors.

Applications of Aluminum Anodizing

Anodizing is a high quality and affordable finishing process. As such, it is popular and used for a number of applications in a variety of industries. It is so versatile that you may come across anodized metal parts throughout the day.

Some of the industries that frequently use anodizing are:

 Aerospace.

 Automotive.

 Architecture.

 Consumer products.

 Household goods industry.

While it is impossible to list all the specific applications that use anodized aluminum, here are some that many will relate to:

 Kitchen equipment.

pipe covers.

 Light fixtures.

 Food preparation products.

 Photographic equipment.

 Radio equipment.

 Electronic housings.
