What is AND an engineering plastic? It refers to polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) plastic. PET plastic is a common plastic material, the Chinese name (polyester) has the following properties: in food use mostly.
 
PETP plastic is the abbreviation for Polyethylene terephthalate, abbreviated PET or PETP. Chinese meaning: polyethylene terephthalate plastic, mainly including polyethylene terephthalate PET and polybutylene terephthalate PBT. polyethylene terephthalate is also commonly known as polyester resin. It is a condensate of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol, together with PBT, collectively referred to as thermoplastic polyester, or saturated polyester.PETP plastic molecular structure is highly symmetric, with a certain degree of crystalline orientation ability, so it has a high degree of film-forming properties and into the nature of the PET plastic has good optical properties and weathering resistance, amorphous PET plastic has good optical transparency. 1. Heat resistance:
 
PET plastic can be used for a long time at a temperature of 120 ° C, while maintaining its excellent physical and mechanical properties in a wide range of temperatures. Short-term temperature of 150 ° C.
 
2. Physical and chemical properties:
 
PET plastic has low water absorption, non-toxic, good weather resistance, high chemical stability, and can withstand weak acids and organic solvents. However, it is not resistant to hot water immersion and alkali.
 
3. Appearance: (Appearance)
 
PET plastic is usually a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and shiny surface.
 
4. Electrical properties:
 
PET plastic has excellent electrical insulation, even at high temperatures and high frequencies, its electrical properties are still good, although the corona resistance is poor.PET is a polymer material with excellent electrical properties. Its dielectric constant under the action of electric field is a key parameter to measure its electrical properties. According to the results expressed, the dielectric constant of PET is approximately between 2.5 and 3.5 in the high frequency region (MHz level) and between 3 and 4 in the low frequency region (Hz level). In addition, the dielectric constant of PET decreases with increasing frequency.
 
5. Processability:
 
PET plastics have a small crystallization rate, making their molding processability poor. Rapid cooling is required to obtain transparent products (e.g. films) and adequate drying is required before molding.
 
6. Dimensional Stability:
 
PET materials have good dimensional stability and are less susceptible to deformation due to environmental changes.
   
7. High transparency:
 
PET material has good transparency, which makes it ideal for use in the manufacture of packaging and containers that require a transparent effect.
 
8. Recyclability:
 
PET is a recyclable material that can be recycled and reused to reduce environmental pollution.
 
9. Low temperature resistance:
 
PET can maintain certain mechanical properties even at low temperatures, suitable for use in refrigerated or frozen conditions.
 
10. Glossiness:
 
PET surface has a good gloss, which can provide an aesthetic appearance.
 
11. Moisture absorption:
 
PET material has low hygroscopicity, which helps to keep the product dry and stable.

PET made of bottles with high strength, good transparency, non-toxic, anti-penetration, light weight, production efficiency and other advantages, and therefore widely used.PBT and PET molecular chain structure is similar, most of the properties are also the same, just the main chain of molecules from the two methylene into four, so the molecule is more supple, processing performance is more excellent.
 
PETP is a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and glossy surface. Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, friction resistance and good dimensional stability, small abrasion but high hardness, with the largest toughness in thermoplastics; good electrical insulation properties, little affected by temperature, but poor corona resistance. Non-toxic, weather resistance, good stability against chemicals, low water absorption, resistance to weak acids and organic solvents, but does not resist hot water immersion, not alkali resistance.
 
PETP resin has a high glass transition temperature, slow crystallization, long molding cycle, long molding cycle, large molding shrinkage, poor dimensional stability, crystallization of the molding is brittle, low heat resistance, etc..
 
Through the nucleating agent as well as crystallizing agent and glass fiber reinforced improvement, PET in addition to the properties of PBT, there are the following characteristics:
 
1. The heat distortion temperature and long-term service temperature are the highest among thermoplastic general engineering plastics;
 
2. 4. Due to the production of PETP glycol used in the production of PBT than the price of butanediol used almost half cheaper, so PET resin and reinforced PET is the lowest price of engineering plastics, has a high cost-effective.

Glass fiber reinforced PET is suitable for electrical and electronic and automotive industries, used in a variety of coil skeletons, transformers, television sets, tape recorders parts and shells, automotive lamp holders, lampshades, white heat lamp holders, relays, selenium rectifiers, etc. PET engineering plastics for several applications in the proportion of consumption is: electrical and electronic 26%, automotive 22%, machinery 19%, appliances 10%, consumer goods 10%, and other for the 13%. The total consumption of PET engineering plastics is still small, accounting for only 1.6% of the total PET.
 
1. In terms of film sheet: all kinds of food, drugs, non-toxic and sterile packaging materials; textiles, precision instruments, electrical components, high-grade packaging materials; audio tapes, video tapes, movie films, computer floppy disks, metal coating and photographic film and other substrates; electrical insulating materials, capacitor film, flexible printed circuit boards and membrane switches and other electronic fields and mechanical fields.
 
2. Application of packaging bottles: its application has been developed from the initial carbonated gas drinks to beer bottles, edible oil bottles, condiment bottles, medicine bottles, cosmetic bottles and so on.
 
3. Electronic and electrical appliances: manufacture of connectors, coil-wound tubes, integrated circuit housings, capacitor housings, transformer housings, TV accessories, tuners, switches, timer housings, automatic fuses, motor brackets and relays.
 
4. Automobile parts: such as switchboard covers, firing coils, various valves, exhaust parts, distributor cover, measuring instrument cover, small motor cover, etc. PET can also be utilized for its excellent paintability, surface luster and rigidity to manufacture automobile exterior parts.
 
5. Mechanical equipment: manufacturing gears, cams, pump shells, pulleys, motor frames and clock parts, can also be used as microwave ovens baking trays, a variety of roofs, outdoor billboards and models.
 
6. PET plastic molding process can be injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, coating, bonding, machining, plating, plating, vacuum metal plating, printing.
