What is a modified PTFE gasket

Modified PTFE gasket
Modified PTFE gasket is also called filled PTFE gasket. It is made of PTFE resin with a certain amount of fillers, such as glass fiber, bronze powder, molybdenum disulfide, graphite, carbon fiber, etc., after high-speed mixing. It is formed by pressing with a mold, and then sintered at high temperature to make products such as gaskets or first pressed into a modified PTFE plate and then punched or cut into shape. Filled PTFE gaskets have greatly improved some properties of PTFE, especially in terms of wear resistance, heat conduction, waxy change resistance, and self-lubrication, due to the addition of a certain amount of fillers to PTFE products. Compared with pure PTFE products, there is a more obvious improvement. Suitable for corrosion-resistant, heat-conducting, wear-resistant, oil-free lubrication, shock-absorbing and anti-wear seal lubrication conductors within the temperature range of -180°C to +250°C.

In order to meet the needs of customers for high-quality PTFE gaskets, HONY plastic has introduced some foreign famous brands of expanded PTFE gasket materials with excellent performance, such as Gore, Garlock, Valqua, TEMAC, etc., can refer to expanded PTFE gaskets

HONY plastic has GB2506-89, GB/T17727, HG/T20627, HG/T20606 and other standards and a full range of PTFE gasket molds. Welcome to inquire about modified PTFE compression molded gaskets requiring a thickness of more than 2mm.

Performance characteristics of modified PTFE gaskets:
The performance of modified (filled) PTFE is closely related to the performance, content and preparation process of the filling material. Fillers must meet:
(1) The filler is stable under sintering conditions of 380-400°C;
(2) Filler particle size £150µm;
(3) The filler will not absorb moisture;
(4) Under sintering conditions, the filler itself will not cluster;
(5) The filler does not react with PTFE.

Commonly used fillers: graphite, molybdenum disulfide, ceramic particles/fibers, carbon fibers (CF), glass microspheres and glass fibers (GF), quartz, barium sulfate, etc.

1. Improve cold flow resistance and creep performance: filled with graphite, glass beads and glass fibers (GF, Polyphenylene Sulfide
2. Improve lubricity: filled with MoS2,
3. Improve thermal conductivity: filled with bronze powder, molybdenum, nickel, etc., carbon fiber
4. Improve wear resistance: filled with glass beads and glass fiber (GF), Polyimide, polyphenylene
5. Improve stability and reduce deformation: carbon fiber, polyphenylene sulfide

Modified PTFE gaskets are used in industries: chemical, petrochemical, oil refining, chlor-alkali, acid, phosphate fertilizer, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, chemical fiber, dyeing, coking, gas, organic synthesis, non-ferrous smelting, steel, atomic energy and high-purity product production ( Such as ionic membrane electrolysis), viscous material transportation and operation, food, beverage and other processing and production departments with strict sanitation requirements.

Equipment used: Sealing parts of flange connections of pipes, valves, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, condensers, generators, air compressors, exhaust pipes, refrigerators, etc.
