Mechanical Properties

PEEK has the heat resistance and chemical stability of thermosetting plastics and the molding processability of thermoplastics. The long-term use temperature of PEEK is about 260-280°C, the short-term use temperature can reach 330°C, and the high pressure resistance can reach 30MPa. It is a good material for high-temperature sealing rings. PEEK products are suitable for various environments with harsh working conditions. PEEK also has excellent properties such as good self-lubrication, easy processing, stable insulation, and hydrolysis resistance, making it widely used in aerospace, automobile manufacturing, electrical and electronic, medical and food processing and other fields. Due to the unique performance advantages of PEEK materials, PEEK products can be widely used in many fields such as petrochemical, electronic and electrical, instrumentation, machinery and automobiles, medical and health, aerospace, military nuclear energy, etc.


PEEK fabrication parTurning
According to the processing of different grades of PEEK materials, the processing tools are selected. Generally, YW1 or YW2 general-purpose hard alloy knives can be used, and it is better to use diamond knives. The hardness and rigidity of high-speed steel (white steel knife) are too low, and it is easy to wear.
Coolant should be used during processing to reduce wear and conduct heat; otherwise, during machining, the high temperature caused by the friction between the tool and the end face of the product will cause the material to melt.
For processing thin-walled parts, due to their poor rigidity and weak strength, if they are directly clamped by the jaws of the three-jaw chuck, deformation will easily occur, increasing the shape error of the part, and the circumference of the part cannot be guaranteed.
Therefore, when processing thin-walled products, clamping methods such as split sleeves or spring chucks should be used, and the direction of clamping force can also be changed, changing radial clamping to axial clamping, that is, using some clamping tools for clamping, which is reasonable When selecting the cutting amount, the cutting amount has the greatest impact on the cutting amount, so the cutting amount and cutting speed should be reduced when cutting thin-walled sleeves.
Properly increasing the rake angle when processing PEEK materials can make the turning tool sharp, smooth chip removal, reduce friction between the cutting and rake face, reduce cutting force and cutting heat, and properly increase the blade inclination angle can make the turning tool The actual rake angle increases, the cutting edge arc decreases, and the sharpness of the tool is improved.
Thereby reducing the cutting force and cutting heat, according to the characteristic that the axial bearing capacity of the thin-walled sleeve is larger than the radial bearing capacity, appropriately increasing the main deflection angle can reduce the back force, thereby reducing the deformation of the workpiece.
Appropriately increasing the secondary deflection angle can reduce the friction between the secondary cutting edge and the workpiece, reducing the cutting heat. Properly reducing the radius of the tool nose arc can reduce the back force, thereby reducing the deformation of the workpiece, but it should not be too small. If it is too small, it will affect the surface roughness of the workpiece and reduce the heat dissipation area of the tool tip.

Cnc Peek Part Milling
When milling, the feed rate should be smaller, and the coolant should be sufficient, otherwise the surface of the product will change color and yellow when the generated cutting heat is too large; try to use a large rake angle, good chip removal, and sharp end mills for processing; When clamping, the deformation of the product after processing should be fully considered, and the clamping force and workpiece clamping method should be properly controlled.

Peek Machined Part Drilling
It is not possible to directly use a large drill to drill holes. You can first drill with a drill with a diameter of less than 10mm, then use a smaller boring tool to bore, and finally use a large boring tool to bore; when drilling, you must repeatedly return the drill bit row It is necessary to ensure that the cooling of the cutting fluid is sufficient and timely, which can quickly reduce the heat, appropriately reduce the drilling feed rate, and repair the drill bit in time when the drill bit is worn.
Special attention should be paid when tapping thread processing materials. PEEK material is relatively wear-resistant, and the tapping wear will be fast, so the thread size should be checked frequently. Coolant or tapping oil must be applied to the tap, and the feed rate should be small. When tapping deep holes, try to use segmented multiple tapping.
