What is PEEK machining?

The material PEEK is characterised by high dimensional stability combined with well-balanced mechanical properties. This combination of properties is responsible for the very good machinability of PEEK material. In PEEK plastic machining, high tool infeeds and high feed rates can be used.

Is PEEK difficult to machine?

PEEK plastic machining is difficult because of the preparations the plastic must undergo before it can be machined. With PEEK CNC machining, the material arrives in rod form. Due to PEEK plastic's properties, it needs to be annealed before it can be fabricated into a specific shape and size.

PEEK is a high-temperature resistant, high-performance thermoplastic special engineering plastics, with good mechanical properties and resistance to chemicals, abrasion, hydrolysis and other properties. Easy to injection molding, extrusion molding and cutting processing, is one of the special engineering plastics with excellent comprehensive performance.

PEEK processing accuracy is mainly limited by the following points:

1, the choice of process, the general accuracy of grinding is better than turning and milling;

2, the precision of machine tools and equipment;

3, tool wear;

4, the structure of the product, whether the removal of material is reasonable;

5, whether the stress within the material is released;

6, whether the processing will bring the clamping deformation.

General injection molding can reach 0.1 or so, according to the different wall thickness of the product, the structure of the product is different, can be controlled at 0.015 or so is possible.
