PCTFE is Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), the Chinese name is Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), also known as Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), PCTFE has high hardness, low temperature resistance, excellent dimensional stability, mainly used for low temperature sealing, electrical, anticorrosion, radiation protection components.Material properties: PCTFE is a product of free radical initiated polymerization of trifluoro vinyl chloride with a linear backbone of mainly repeating a CF(cl)-CF unit.
The basic properties of PCTFE depend on its molecular weight and crystallinity in addition to its molecular structure. [4]
1. Mechanical properties
The room temperature mechanical properties of PCTFE are better than those of PTFE , its compression strength is large, the cold flow is small, the compression resilience is also relatively large, and it has good elastic recovery. However, since PCTFE is a crystalline polymer, its mechanical properties are greatly affected by the temperature, and there will be a certain difference due to the crystallinity and molecular weight. When PCTFE is cooled abruptly during molding, transparent products with low crystallinity can be formed: when it is cooled slowly, semi-transparent molded products with high crystallinity can be formed. Generally speaking, the tensile strength and hardness increase with crystallization but the elongation decreases.
2. Thermal Properties
PCTFE has a hot melt temperature (Tm) of 211-216°C and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 71-99°C. At 250°C, PCTFE maintains good thermal stability. However, it starts to crystallize from 130°C, and the fastest crystallization rate is in the temperature range of 160-200°C. With the increase of crystallinity, the brittleness gradually increases. Therefore, its long-term use temperature should be kept below 130°C; if the use temperature exceeds 200°C, it will gradually decompose and be damaged.
3. Low temperature resistance
In liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen and liquefied natural gas, no brittle cracking, no creep, under certain conditions can be used at near absolute zero (-273 ° C).
4. Corrosion resistance
The high fluorine content makes PCTFE resistant to almost all chemicals and oxidizers. It can be impregnated for a long time in acids, alkalis or oxidizing agents without any change. It can be corroded by molten alkali metals, elemental fluorine and chlorine trifluoride only at high temperatures, and solubilized when it comes into contact with benzene and benzene congeners and polyhalides under high temperature conditions.
5. Permeability
PCTFE has the lowest water vapor permeability of all plastics and is impermeable to any gases, making it a good barrier polymer.
6. Electrical Properties
In terms of electrical properties, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor of PCTFE are relatively small over a wide frequency range, and the electrical properties such as insulation resistance and dielectric breakdown voltage are excellent, and are virtually unaffected by temperature or humidity, making PCTFE a high-frequency insulating material that can withstand harsh conditions far better than conventional materials.
7. Optical Properties
PCTFE has excellent optical properties, 3mm thick PCTFE plastic sheet is optically transparent, 2μm thick film can transmit 1-4μm muscle infrared light 95% of its ultraviolet light absorption is also very low.
8. Weather Resistance
PCTFE also has good weather resistance, it is exposed to outdoor sunlight for a year without any effect on the performance.
Poly(trifluoroethylene) chloride is a homopolymer of trifluoroethylene chloride, which is mainly produced by polymerization methods such as suspension method and emulsion method.
1. Suspension polymerization
This method is used to prepare high molecular weight polytrifluoroethylene. Water, initiator ammonium persulfate, reducing agent sodium metabisulfite and pH buffer are added to the polymerization kettle, and then trifluoroethylene chloride is added for suspension polymerization.[5] 1. suspension polymerization
2. Emulsion polymerization
Trifluoroethylene chloride 100 parts, water 30 parts, initiator potassium persulfate 2.0 parts, emulsifier perfluorooctanoic acid 2.4 parts, adjusted to pH 7, polymerization at 30 ℃ for 20h, to get the stable polytrifluoroethylene chloride emulsion, particle size 0.1um.
Application
1. Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) coatings
PCTFE coating has excellent chemical anticorrosion properties, can be coated on the surface of metal and other plasticized, quenching and cooling of the coating does not rupture. PCTFE coating can be used in suspension spraying, dipping, brushing or electrostatic spraying, according to the shape of the structure of the coated parts of the different choice of different coating processes, the first coated, sintered. It can be applied to reaction tanks, storage tanks, reaction towers, tubes, various containers, blowers, drums, etc.
2. Corrosion-resistant pumps, valves
Manufactured by PCTFE centrifugal pumps, hydraulic pumps have excellent corrosion resistance, can be used to transport solid particles, the temperature is not higher than 100 ℃ of any concentration of various strong acids, strong alkalis, strong oxidizing agents and other corrosive media, especially for the transport of hydrofluoric acid, the most to play its excellent performance, for the general rubber-lined pumps, stainless steel, glass, chlorinated polyether and other pumps not as good as PCTFE has been widely used in the following areas Anti-corrosive valves (ball valves, globe valves and diaphragm valves, etc.) production.
3. Packaging materials PCTFE film
The United States Allied Chem company produces the trade name "Aclar" trifluoroethylene copolymer and homopolymer film is widely used in the role of water-sensitive products and parts of the packaging. For example, TekniPlex (USA) uses fluoropolymers from Allied Chem laminated with PVC and polyethylene in blister-type packaging for children's vitamins to prevent moisture and discoloration of the vitamins.
Nitto Denko produces Nitoflon, a vapor-impermeable film made of PCTFE, which is used as an encapsulating material for packaging electrical components, protective layers for solar collectors and displays, and field-light-emitting components.
4. Cable wrapping materials
ABUSLEME JULIO A, Italy et al. Cable wrapping is performed by adding nucleating agent with PCTFE as the main material. In the process of covering cables, it becomes a good insulating layer due to foaming, and this method can significantly improve the negative effects of using blowing agents, such as the residual blowing agent in the insulating layer of the cable, which deteriorates the excellent dielectric properties of fluorine material itself. In addition, the coating process is greatly simplified because no blowing agent is used in the cable coating process.
5. New plastics
Belgium METZ JEAN-YUES with vinylidene fluoride and chlorotrifluoroethylene co-polymerization into a new type of plastic, used in cables and optical fibers, outer packaging, pipe manufacturing, storage and transportation containers, agricultural or construction of single-layer or multi-layer film extrusion and so on. It not only has the excellent mechanical properties, high chemical stability and excellent ultraviolet resistance of vinylidene fluoride homopolymer, but also improves the shortcomings of vinylidene fluoride poor bendability.
6. Stretching agent
Japan's Nakagawa Koutarou oligomer of trifluoroethylene made of aqueous dispersions used for stretching agents and stretching pre-treatment agent, which compared with the traditional stretching agent has a small amount of environmental pollution, low toxicity, high security, dispersion stability and other characteristics.
7. Other
PCTFE excellent low-temperature resistance, can be used to make liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid fuel sealing materials; the use of PCTFE mechanical stability and excellent optical properties, can be used for the manufacture of tubes and fittings with filament buttons, and transparent mirrors, optical instruments, etc.; its excellent electrical properties can be used to make plug-ins, printed circuit boards, etc., used in wet environments; but also can be used in the production of chlorofluorocarbon oil, and so on.
