Duratron® Polyetherimide (PEI) is family of transparent amber high-performance polymers that combine high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures with long term heat resistance. PEI offers excellent dimensional stability combined with broad chemical resistance. Duratron® PEI grades are commonly machined into parts for reusable medical devices, analytical instrumentation, electrical/electronic insulators (including many semiconductor process components) and a variety of structural components requiring high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures. Mitsubishi Chemical Group offers Duratron® U1000 PEI and Duratron® U2300 PEI as standard products.Pei Ultem Sheet Rod
Products in the Duratron® PEI family (4) Engineering Plastic Ultem Pei Sheet
Duratron® U2100 PEI Polyetherimide shapes are 10% glass-reinforced, giving them greater rigidity and dimensional stability over Duratron® U1000, as well as a low coefficient of linear thermal expansion. With an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and high tensile strength, this grade is ideal for for semiconductor and electronics applications.
Material Properties
10% glass reinforced for added rigidity and dimensional stability
High strength
Excellent flame and heat resistance
Consistent dielectric properties over wide frequency range
Resistant to hydrolysis and acidic solutions
Suitable for repeated autoclaving
2.Duratron® U2300 PEI
Duratron® U2300 PEI is a flame resistant Polyetherimide that is 30% glass-reinforced, allowing this grade to exhibit the highest rigidity, strength, dimensional stability, and heat resistance of all Duratron® PEI shapes. Possessing the lowest Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CLTE), and superior strength-to-weight ratio and tensile strength, this grade is favored as a solution for reusable medical devices, analytical instruments, electrical insulators and semiconductor process components, and structural components that require high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures.
Material Properties
Acid and steam resistant
High strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures
Dimensionally stable
30% glass-reinforced
Possesses the lowest Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CLTE)
3.Duratron® U2200 PEI
Duratron® U2200 PEI Polyetherimide shapes are 20% glass-reinforced, giving them exceptional rigidity and dimensional stability, high temperature resistance, and a low Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion. With an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and increased tensile strength, this grade is also a great electrical insulator for semiconductor and electronics applications.
Material Properties
20% glass-reinforced
High strength and performs in continuous use to 340°F (170°C)
Exceptional rigidity and dimensional stability
Low Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CLTE)
Food contact acceptable
4.Duratron® U1000 PEI
Duratron® U1000 are amorphous PEI Polyetherimide shapes that exhibit high strength, dimensional stability, and superior flame and heat resistance. Due to this grade's ability to perform continuously to 340°F / 170°C, Duratron® U1000 PEI is the ideal solution for applications that require consistent dielectric properties over a wide frequency range. Another strength of Duratron® U1000 PEI shapes are their hydrolysis and chemical resistance, enabling them to withstand repeated autoclaving cycles in medical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology markets.
Material Properties
High strength and dimensional stability
Superior flame and heat resistance
Consistent dielectric properties over wide frequency range
Hydrolysis and chemical resistance
Holds up to repeated autoclaving cycles
